Liam Scales signs new four-year deal to stay at Celtic until 2028

Latest Celtic news this afternoon is that Liam Scales has signed a new four-year deal with the club.

The Scottish Champions announced it via social media and now the man who has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Celtic Park with be here for the long-term. The former Aberdeen loanee has been rewarded for his performances this season and will continue his development under manager Brendan Rodgers for the foreseeable future.

Scales has performed admirably

The Irishman has had to step into the void during a very testing period for the club and our manager, as successive injuries and a lack of consistency have hampered our season to date.

Having said all that, we are still in the running to win a Scottish Cup trophy at the end of this month and are in pole position to retain our Scottish Premiership title for third successive year.

25-year-old Scales has come in and performed admirably during this tumultuous time and was outstanding against Atletico Madrid, Lazio and Feyenoord  at Paradise in the Champions League.

Recent dip in form

However, his recent dip in form has been a cause for concern and could be expected in all honesty with the amount of games he’s played this season for the Hoops after coming back from Aberdeen last summer.

‘I am delighted’

The player was delighted to have signed on for another four years at the Glasgow giants and said via the official Celtic website: “I am delighted to agree this new contract and commit my future to Celtic. I have really enjoyed working under the gaffer, and with such a great group of players this year and I look forward to doing so again in the coming seasons. I love being part of this great club and I want to do all I can to contribute to Celtic and bring our fans as much success as we can.”

“At the start of the year I was just looking to play regular football… I thought maybe I’d have to look elsewhere… I’m delighted to get it done,” Liam Scales.
