Ten years on he had to go – Watford calling for Celtic teenager

Best of luck to young Rocco, but will even know he’s gone?

Rocco Vata is reportedly close to completing a move to championship side Watford with Celtic set to revive a six figure sum in compensation.

The Irish youth international had been stalling on the offer of a new contract from the club and after several months of speculation, he will finally get the move he’s been looking for.

I bare no ill will against the young boy, as he’s got to do what’s best for him, and he wants a better chance of playing first team football, something he unfortunately wasn’t guaranteed at Celtic Park.

He will no doubt earn a big pay day down south as well as the chance to play at a decent level, so it’s worked out well for him, and hopefully he goes on to succeed in the game.

As for the Celtic support, will he even know he’s gone? I don’t mean to sound disrespectful, but he was hardly on the fringes of the first team never mind a regular starter.

The boy had potential yes, but he had a long way to go in proving he had what it took to succeed at the club at first team level.

Rocco’s had ten years at Celtic and now it looks like he is going to move to Watford where he’s more likely to get regular first team football, if he shows his worth for the Championship side.  Rocco clearly believes he has what it takes so we can only watch his progress with interest and hope that he’s making the right decision.

UPDATE: Watford are in advanced talks with Celtic forward Rocco Vata.

It’s understood the 19yo has visited the facilities & met with club reps.

Watford are offering Vata a four-year deal.

Maybe he got the wrong advice from agents, or he thought he was better than he was, either way it wasn’t meant to be, and young Rocco will now move on with the best wishes from everyone at Celtic football club.

He has done nothing yet and there is no guarantee for him. He may get a shock.
