Reo Hatate has commented on his various encounters with the Celtic support outside of Parkhead and revealed how positive these interactions have been.

It is no secret that Reo Hatate has become an important part of Brendan Rodgers’ midfield. The flair and obvious talent he brings allowed the Japanese midfielder to easily fit into the Celtic midfield. Furthermore, in the three years Hatate has been at Celtic, he has helped win the Bhoys several pieces of silverware, including 3 League Titles, 2 Scottish Cups, and 1 League Cup. With all this in consideration, it isn’t exactly surprising that Hatate is adored by the Celtic support.

While it is true that Hatate is used to experiencing this support from fans inside the stadium, as they cheer him along and sing his song, Reo also receives love and support outside of the stadium. When asked by Sportiva if he gets approached by Celtic fans outside of the stadium, Reo responded:

Yes, because they are all very passionate about football. Everyone is so passionate about football. For example, if I go to a café on the day off after a match, I am approached by people, and if there is a Celtic fan among the café staff, they sometimes say things like, ‘You don’t have to pay for the coffee, just drink it’.

“I think that kind of enthusiasm is amazing!”

Although Hatate missed a chunk of last season due to injury, he is now fully fit and will most certainly play a crucial role in this coming season’s campaign. Furthermore, Hatate has already proved his class on the European stage with the 2022 clash against Real Madrid being an example, with Reo comfortably holding his own against Luka Modric. With Champions League football already heading Celtic’s way, as well as a title defence, Reo will certainly have his chance to repay all the love”.
