Shankland POTY, Matt O’Riley title winner. Which would you prefer?

The Hearts supporters have been making a bit of a noise lately on social media. Mainly because their star striker Lawrence Shankland lifted both player of the year awards for his contributions this season.

Jambos enjoying Shankland beating Matt O’Riley in POTY polls

The Jambos have been goading the Celtic supporters online over the Scotland strikers accolades especially since he beat our very own Matt O’Riley to both awards.

That’s all fine and good from the Hearts supporters, it’s only a bit of banter and whatever makes them happy I suppose, maybe Shankland can lead Hearts to a win over theRangers today to avoid six straight defeats against the latest Ibrox club?

As good at it would have been to see Matt lift the awards, it’s not that disappointing. Shankland also deserved his awards and congratulations to him, he’s had a fine season after all.

Matt O’Riley would rather have his league winners medal

But so has Matt with 30 goal contributions from midfield. Goals that have contributed to a league title win. I don’t know about you, but for me I’d rather be lifting a league title than a personal accolade. I’m sure Shankland himself would also swap his award to be a champion.

So let the Hearts supporters carry on with their celebrations, while today we celebrate being champions of Scotland yet again, and Matt O’Riley – Celtic’s POTY – played a huge part in delivering that title triumph.

Levels

Both players are likely to move in the summer. Hearts will be lucky to get £4-5m for Shankland while Celtic could get £30m for Matt O’Riley. Levels.
