Wing and a Player – Forrest, Kuhn, Maeda and Palma all have important roles to play

Jamesy justified his starting place at Dens Park. He more than merits it until the end of the season…

We got our wish at Dens Park

The overwhelming majority of Celtic supporters, myself included were crying out for James Forrest to be handed a start at Dens Park on Sunday afternoon and we got our wish when he was named on the team sheet an hour and a quarter before kick off.

Jamesy certainly didn’t disappoint as he proved to be the difference in the game scoring two brilliant goals, the first in particular was an absolute stunner. James has now given the Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers an easy decision to make going into these last run of ever so vital games, four in the league and one at Hampden for the Scottish Cup final.

Forrest has the ability as well as the experience

Such has his form been, it would be very harsh in dropping him back on the bench considering the below par form of both Yang and Luis Palma, who is just back from injury and still working his way back to full match sharpness.

James Forrest has the ability as well as the experience and in my opinion should be one of the first names on the team sheet for the remainder of the run in. He’s totally earned that on merit and more than deserves his chance to contribute in our quest to win a league and cup double.

It gives Brendan many options

Three of the four Scottish Premiership matches are at Paradise where Jamesy thrives on the wing. And with Nicolas Kuhn able to play on both flanks it gives Brendan many options to play Jamesy on either wing or indeed to switch during games.

Daizen on the left against Tavernier and Jamesy on the right

And against theRangers Brendan may opt for Daizen on the left against Tavernier and Jamesy on the right wing.

Brendan raised a few eyebrows not so long ago when he claimed that Jamesy was the best winger at the club, but wasn’t playing him due to concerns about the intensity of the games.

Well he’s been proved more than right on the first point but wrong on the second. The Celtic manager even asked himself a rhetorical question at the weekend saying ‘maybe I should have played him more this season’.

James Forrest is going to play a huge part in this title run

However concerns about intensity are eased by playing Jamesy playing for an hour then brining on fresh legs in Luis Palma or Yang.

What is clear is that James Forrest is going to play a huge part in this title run in and then cap it all off with a performance to remember at Hampden on 25 May in the Scottish Cup final against theRangers.
