The official Celtic YouTube page has uploaded a video of Tomoki Iwata choosing his ideal ‘Elite Eleven’.
Continuing on from Kyogo’s selections, Iwata has now stepped up to choose which players he would most like to have in his starting XI.
Tomoki Iwata’s selection
To start, Iwata has decided to side with a 4-1-4-1 formation.
Goalkeeper: Jin-Hyeon Kim (Cerezo Osaka)
Defence: Ken Matsubara (Yokohama F. Marinos), Yoshinori Suzuki (Kyoto Sanga FC), Jesiel (Kawasaki Frontale), Sho Sasaki (Sanfrecce Hiroshima).
Midfield: Ryota Oshima (Kawasaki Frontale), Nicolo Zaniolo (Aston Villa), Kaoru Mitoma (Brighton & Hove Albion), Andres Iniesta (Emirates Club), Takashi Usami (Gamba Osaka)
Attack: Shinzo Koroki (Urawa Red Diamonds)
It’s clear that Iwata has chosen a squad primarily based on his experiences in the J1 League, and that the quality in the Japanese league has left a strong impression in Iwata’s mind.
Iwata also reflects upon the difficulty he had playing against some of his selected players and used that as his justification for his choice.
In all fairness, although primarily from the same league, Iwata has a spread of players from different clubs, while Kyogo essentially chose the whole starting XI from Real Madrid as his ‘Elite Eleven’.
