Scotland’s Euro 2024 qualifiers rivals, Georgia, have made history by sealing their place in the knockout phases of the tournament. Despite finishing nine points behind Scotland in qualifying, Georgia gained their place in Germany through the Play-Offs and have certainly made their presence felt after beating Portugal 2-0.

Georgia made history by sealing their place in the tournament but they are continuing to write their own story with an incredible result against the 2016 winners. The result is incredible for Georgia, who have a population of 3.7m – because that seems to matter to some people.

The result will further rub salt in the wounds of Scotland fans, who saw their side go out with a whimper. Georgia have attacked and taken the game to their opponents in the group, whereas Scotland sat in and allowed to be hurt by their opponents.

Scotland will need to regroup and reflect on the failures of the campaign while attempting to ensure that they are in the best possible state to get to the World Cup in 2026 and the European Championships in 2028.
