Kieran Tierney says James Forrest can do a job for Celtic at Ibrox

Former Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has said that winger James Forrest can have an impact at Ibrox on Sunday. The Scottish Champions travel to Govan to face Rangers in the Scottish Premiership and Tierney believes that the seasoned attacker can have a say in the Glasgow Derby.

Speaking to Sun Sport, the Real Sociedad left-back believes that the Celtic legend can still offer Brendan Rodgers something in the big games because he has been there and done that repeatedly.

“Every time James has been called on recently he’s stepped up and scored important goals. He’s not a regular starter but he’s still got plenty to offer.

“I’ve no doubts James can do a job at Ibrox in whatever role he’s asked to deliver, even if it’s just from the bench.

“But his presence around the club is priceless anyway, especially with players coming into Celtic.

“James has seen it and done it, he’s lived with the pressure of being a Celtic player for almost 15 years.”

Forrest has made 486 appearances for Celtic, scoring 105 goals and assisting on 102 occasions. Forrest has an excellent record against Rangers, playing 27 games and winning on 18 occasions. In that time, the player has scored twice and assisted on six occasions.

Forrest will be in the squad but is extremely unlikely to be in the starting XI with a place on the bench the only real possibility given that Yang and Luis Palma will likely be on the bench with Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn starting.
