It’s Women’s Scottish Cup semi-final day at Hampden as Elena Sadiku looks to write her own name into Celtic’s glorious Scottish Cup story and club captain Kelly Clark aims to get to the final to complete a remarkable 3IAR Scottish Cup wins for Celtic FC Women.
It’s the top two in the SWPL who go head to head with league leaders Celtic taking on second placed theRangers for a place in next month’s final.
A dominant Celtic performance
Both sides have changed managers since the two met in the final in May 2023 when Celtic came through brilliantly that one with a dominant performance and a 2-0 scoreline that perhaps should have been more.
Kelly Clark spoke to Celtic Shorts
Not that that mattered much to the Celtic players and the Celtic support, making up the lions share of the 10,000 crowd inside the national stadium. Speaking to Celtic Shorts, club captain Kelly Clark rated last year’s final as one of her top memories in her playing career, although she struggled to decide whether Celtic’s Scottish Cup triumph the previous season against Glasgow City topped her list.
“It’s up there. It really is up there It was the first time that the final was here (at Hampden), the crowd was great and it was a nice sunny day and we played really well that day,” Kelly Clark told Celtic Shorts, at Hampden on Thursday afternoon.
Proud of our performance
“We were really proud of our performance and the fact that we put that performance on only a week after what happened in the league last year, was a real testament to the group of players that we had.
So it’s definitely up there. Whether it’s the top of the top is hard because the year before at Tynecastle we were down to ten men after 25 minutes or something.
We went all the way through extra-time and won it, so yes, last year was massive but I “feel bad ruling out my first cup. I feel bad ruling out that Tynecastle game which was our first Scottish Cup where the situation on the day made that day really special too.”
A Celtic win today and Kelly Clark will be back at Hampden for the Women’s Scottish Cup Final next month against Hearts or Spartans. Hopefully she be there looking to complete a league and cup double!
