Bitter Neil McCann makes Brendan Rodgers ‘pressure’ comments

Former Rangers player Neil McCann has continued an Ibrox PR drive after claiming that the Philippe Clement was ‘a wee bit more emotional’ while Brendan Rodgers showed pressure in his blast of kit man Stevie Wright in the Semi Final penalties win over Aberdeen.

Speaking on BBC’s Scottish Football Podcast, the bitter McCann said that Rodgers showed that he was feeling the pressure as he painted a comparison between the Celtic manager and Rangers boss Clement.

“But what I will say is, there’s still a lot of football to be played. There really is.

“And he [Philippe Clement] does keep a real level of balance. And I know sometimes of late after games, he seems a wee bit more emotional than others.

“Football can do that to you. Playing for one of these clubs when you’re going for the title, whether it be Rangers or Celtic, you can see it.

“Look at Brendan Rodgers in the same final last week with the kit man. That’s an element of pressure that sometimes just seeps in.

“You can be as cool as you like, but it starts to get to you.”

The Celtic manager has shown himself to be a cool customer in recent months – insisting that Celtic will write their own story and own their narrative in the final stages of the season.

Clement has exhibited that he has been feeling the pressure in the title race for some time. The reaction and comments after the 3-3 draw at Ibrox at the beginning of April showed that cracks were emerging in the Belgian and his moral winners. They followed that up with a defeat in Dingwall and draw at Dens as well as uninspiring displays against Hearts and St Mirren.
