Celtic left-back Alexandro Bernabei has completed his loan exit by joining Brazilian side FC International. The 23-year-old joined from Lanus in the summer of 2022 and was expected to be a candidate for the first team role, going up against Greg Taylor.
However, eighteen months later, it has been clear that the move hasn’t worked out and the full-back moves on for a loan deal until the end of 2024.
Bernabei played just 28 times for Celtic, which highlighted how both Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers viewed the full-back – who was a bit erratic. Off-field behaviour didn’t help the perception of Bernabei being a bit immature.
Hopefully the move gets him game time and the club can reassess next January whether the has a future at Celtic or whether the club can receive a return on the £3m+ that they paid for him at the beginning of last season.
