“You see the difference when he comes into the game,” Rodgers on CCV

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers looked ahead to this evening’s vital Scottish Premiership match at Celtic Park against Dundee and provided an injury update that will see Maik Nawrocki drop out of the side and defensive stalwart Cameron Carter-Vickers making a welcome return to the Celtic starting XI.

“They are all big games. There are 11 games to go now. I think you have to focus on one game at a time and it is the old cliche but it really is that.

“We just have to focus on the performance as much as anything. Everyone wants to win and everyone wants to perform well. Before that, it is all about having that belief. I think you saw that in this team at the weekend. They had the belief that they could go and get the result and thankfully we did do,” the Celtic manager stated.

Asked about Maik Nawrocki, Rodgers revealed that the Polish defender will sit this one out with another injury concern. “Yes. He has picked up a niggle and felt his hamstring in the game (at Fir Park) so that will set him out, I don’t think for too long, but a period of time.”

That essentially means that Celtic will be without Nawrocki not only this evening but also on Sunday for the trip to Tynecastle to take on Hearts. That opens the door for Cameron Carter-Vickers to return and if he can remain trouble-free as far as his own injury woes are concerned, then that will be a massive boost for Celtic’s title charge.

“Carter-Vickers will need managing but he is ready to start if need be. You see the difference when he comes into the game at the weekend. He’s a top operator but we just have to be mindful of his minutes and his time,” Brendan Rodgers admitted.

Expected Celtic team this evening is Hart, Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, Tomoki, O’Riley; Maeda, Idah and Yang.
