Brendan Rodgers was understandably full of praise for his players and was delighted that the goals were shared around the team. “That is how it has to be. It is no good just having one player who scores 35 goals this season. We need goals from elsewhere. So, that was really nice.”
Some echoes of his first spell at the club when he arrived with Leigh Griffiths scoring 40 goals to win the league the season before. Talking of the Celtic support the manager had this to say, via Celtic TV, about the backing the team received from the Celtic fans last night.
“I must say a big congratulations to the supporters because we are here to entertain them and we need their backing and encouragement. At half-time the reception we got filled us with great pride. A Wednesday night in front of a full house is great.”
