Hailing from Cushendall in the North of Ireland my formative years were spent watching Celtic during our barren spell through the 90's which meant I have appreciated our recent trophy-laden spell even more. Favourite matches home and away I've attended has to be beating Man Utd 1-0 at Celtic Park and being with my 2 brothers watching us beat Lazio 2-1 in Rome. Best away day experience? Has to be Munich with friends from Coatbridge...what a few days!

So Martin O’Neill is to be handed the reigns at Celtic for at least another season, and the disastrous possibility that Robbie Keane could be installed as our new manager has finally evaporated. To steal a quote from Brian Dempsey back in 1994 – The game is over, the rebels have won! As you can probably tell, I’m absolutely delighted that Robbie Keane won’t be anywhere near Celtic Park in a working capacity anytime soon. Up until last week I was never worried about the possibility of Keane getting the Celtic managers job. I genuinely believed it was just lazy…

After the highs of the past few weeks, these last few days have really brought me back down to earth with a bang… Whilst we all celebrated a league and Scottish Cup double, I hoped that things were happening in the background at Celtic that would see this feel good factor remaining high throughout the summer. It hasn’t taken long for reality to hit home unfortunately. Although I knew it was highly unlikely, I did hold a hope that the powers-that-be at Celtic had been working hard behind the scenes ready to announce big changes once the season ended. I…

I have said it before and I will say it again today. If Celtic bring Robbie Keane in as our new manager it will be an unmitigated disaster… It genuinely baffles me that Keane is the front runner for the job. There are a multitude of reasons why he shouldn’t be anywhere near the club, and very little that indicate he is the best candidate for such a huge job at this stage of his management career. Where do I even start on the reasons why I don’t want him as our new manager? To me one of the biggest…

When I was checking the latest Celtic news today I was furious, yet unsurprised, to see that The Scottish Sun was once again platforming former footballer Eyal Berkovic and his nasty views on Celtic… Ever since Celtic fans have proclaimed their solidarity with the innocent people of Palestine, this Israeli ultra nationalist has been fervently bad mouthing our club and its supporters to anyone who will listen. Scottish media have been only too willing to report on his classless rantings Predictably certain parts of the Scottish media have been only too willing to report on his classless rantings, and the…

At boardroom and recruitment level Celtic is a bit of a basket case at the moment, and I’m hoping for huge changes in those departments this summer, but I have to give kudos to them for something they have done recently… I would say Martin O’Neill and Shaun Maloney will have had a big hand in recent events but their decision to sign up Liam Scales, Hyun-Jun Yang, Luke McCowan and James Forrest for the foreseeable future should certainly be applauded. Whoever comes in as manager will need reliable players like those mentioned in his squad. They might not be…

Yesterday I wrote an article on Celtic Shorts regarding a debate amongst fans on whether Martin O’Neill could be a potential candidate as Sporting Director at Celtic if he isn’t offered the manager job on a permanent basis… Personally I don’t think O’Neill would be the best possible candidate for the role, and as I stated in the article, getting the best person for the job is ultimately what we all want. So where do I think Martin O’Neill would be best utilised in the future? Personally I would like to see him get a position on the board. One…

There has been plenty of talk recently regarding the future of Martin O’Neill after he led the club to the most unexpected of doubles last weekend… With Wilfried Nancy at the helm, Celtic looked on course for a disastrous season on par with the dreaded ‘covid season’ under Neil Lennon, until Martin returned and steered the team towards one of the most memorable seasons in history. This has led to many Celtic fans calling for him to get the manager’s job on a permanent basis. Martin O’Neill is suited to the manager’s job or a seat on the Board There…

The news emanating from the official Celtic website today that South Korean international Hyun-Jun Yang has agreed a new contract at the club is one that should be welcomed by all Celtic supporters… The winger has agreed a new deal that runs until 2030, meaning Celtic has secured his services as he enters the peak years of his career. A fantastic piece of business by Celtic Personally I think it’s a fantastic piece of business by Celtic. Yang has easily been our most consistent winger this season, and has certainly done enough to earn a new contract. Martin O’Neill has…

Now that the absolute euphoria from Saturday’s much deserved celebrations have subsided, I want to discuss one of the subjects which seems more prominent in the mainstream media than the amazing achievement of Celtic coming back from the dead to clinch the most unlikely of title wins… The pitch invasion! I’ll start by saying this. I’m not, and never have been, a fan of supporters entering the field of play at any time. It just shouldn’t happen. The absolute joy of watching Celtic break away towards an empty net to seal the title was unmistakable, so I can somewhat understand…

Well have you all recovered yet? Saturday was always going to be a day when emotions ran high but the moment Celtic broke away towards an empty net to seal the most unlikeliest of league triumph’s will honestly live long in my memory as one of the most euphoric moments in a lifetime of watching Celtic… Delivering the ultimate joy I doubt many of us will ever forget the last 15 minutes of that match as this team yet again left it late before delivering the ultimate joy. I doubt I’m the only one still recovering from the celebrations. Even…

What a season this has been. I have run out of superlatives to describe this campaign, one you genuinely could not make up in your wildest dreams… Celtic celebrations at Fir Park after Kelechi Iheanacho scores the penalty with the last kick of the game. Motherwell 2-3 Celtic. Photographs by Vagelis Georgariou A night of drama that will last long in the memory  Every time you think the drama has ended, something else pops up leaving you totally bewildered and struggling to believe what your eyes are witnessing in front of them. When you thought things couldn’t get anymore dramatic,…

Well that was an enjoyable Saturday evening! There’s not many of us who would, in normal circumstances, be glued to our TV’s watching a Motherwell v Hearts match, but tonight was different…. I imagine most of us tuned in for the full 90 minutes as we hoped Motherwell could do us a favour and leave the outcome of this title race fully in Celtic’s hands. The steelmen didn’t disappoint and claimed a 1-1 draw in a game that had a bit of everything, and finished with many questions being asked regarding key decisions made about potential penalties. The first one…

A few days ago I discussed why I thought Martin O’Neill would be better starting with Daizen Maeda over Kelechi Iheanacho against the Rangers… Daizen Maeda of Celtic celebrates scoring during the ScottishPremiership match between Celtic and Falkirk at Celtic Park on April 25, 2026. (Photo by Zak Mauger/Getty Images) I also said I would give my views on who I think should start in midfield come Sunday in my next article on Celtic Shorts. The reason I was pinpointing those two areas is because I feel the defence picks itself now that Alastair Johnston has returned. I’m pretty confident…

As we continue to battle our way through the business end of the season, all eyes have been on Martin O’Neill’s starting line-ups and everyone under the sun, including myself, has an opinion on them… I wrote recently – when we were still on The Celtic Star before we all moved over to our new home on Celticshorts.com – stating that I have been impressed by O’Neill recently in how he’s utilising the squad. Personally I find myself agreeing with his decisions on most occasions, although I know not everyone is of the same opinion. Celtic v Rangers – Everyone…

Celtic just don’t make life easy for us do they? Another game, another rollercoaster ride as they escape Easter Road with all three points in a game that had so many talking points… It will take a few articles to get through all the drama of today so in this first one I’m going to focus solely on the performance of the officials, which was an absolute disgrace. Where do I start? Well the early sending off would be a good place to begin. A clear high tackle that absolutely deserved a red card, even Hibs manager David Gray didn’t…

If I am being totally honest, there have been times this season when I have felt like the praise of Martin O’Neill was a bit over the top… Martin O’Neill arrives at Celtic Park.
