Celtic ran out 1-0 winners after a battling evening in Perth against St Johnstone. Simo Valakari’s side were no mugs as they looked to continue their impressive home form by upsetting the Hoops.

With the game evenly poised at half time, Celtic struck first after the break thanks to a tap in from Mika Baur, assisted by Haissen Hassan. The Egyptian winger thought he had scored his first goal in the Hoops later that evening after lashing onto a knockdown from Kasper Hogh.

The ball nestled in the net but the assistant referee put the flag up, indicating that the ball had gone out. Replays showed that the ball was in when Hogh knocked it down to his forward colleague. Although, Matthew MacDermid blew for play to continue after a VAR check.

❌ “Because the ball went out of the camera frame, VAR had to stick with the on-field decision”

The decision is dubious and feels as if Celtic have been robbed here of a perfectly good goal, just days after similar occurred in Paisley. VAR couldn’t deliver conclusive evidence so they told the referee to consult the monitor and Mheuka’s goal was ruled out as a result.

      Baffling on live watch.
      Infuriating after VAR explanation.
The linesman on that side struggled to keep up with play a few times and I doubt he had a clear view of anything he flagged for.
On the plus sides, Hasseim was great and Tounekti did ok too. Gets a lot of stick but I thought he was really sharp and positive overall. As was Donovan.
When the midfield got into the box it felt like we had a chance against the deep numbers – glad for Baur he got himself across the pitch in good positions.
Hopefully a bit of energy in the squad heading into Sunday.

Another honest mistake by a Scottish referee . There is once again a pattern . Wartch-out for all the stops being pulled-out to assist Sevco who are now in a serious financial plight . Next will come :- Unjust bookings , soft penalties Free-kicks around the penalty box & soft penalties awarded to the opposition . Add to that ” Squinty”,
VAR- lines . Here we go again for the , ” Sevco leg-up” show .
