The Nigerian has yet to make an appearance for the Turkish side without scoring and now sits top of the division’s scoring charts with six goals from his opening five games.

Iheanacho struck twice on Thursday night as Bursaspor cruised to a 4-0 victory, scoring the opening and final goals of another emphatic win.

He could even have walked away with a hat-trick, only for defender Duran Sahin to slide in and turn the ball into his own net before Iheanacho could convert a simple tap-in. The former Celt was hilariously spotted giving his opponent an earful afterwards.

It continues an impressive resurgence for Iheanacho, who endured a stop-start campaign at Celtic before eventually demonstrating his goalscoring pedigree towards the end of the season.

There was some disappointment among the Parkhead support when it became clear he would continue his career elsewhere, but the situation appears to have worked out for all parties.

Celtic invested heavily in Camilo Duran and Kasper Hogh as their new striking options over the summer, with both already finding their feet in Glasgow, while Iheanacho is understood to be earning significantly more in Turkey.

His goals are now driving Bursaspor’s remarkable revival, with the historic club targeting another promotion after falling as far as the Turkish fourth tier just two years ago.
