Jordan Lotomba is one of several signings to have arrived at Celtic in the last few days, and it’s fair to say that the announcement of the Swiss international right back hasn’t been warmly received by a section of the Celtic support…

The 27 year old has a decent pedigree in the game, having starred in his homeland with both Lausanne Sport and Young Boys, winning three consecutive Swiss titles with the latter.

His form with Young Boys won him a £7 million move to French side Nice, spending four years in the French Riviera before signing for Feyenoord.

The right back also has extensive experience in Europe, having played in both the Champions League and Europa league group stage for the Dutch side. Jordan Lotomba also has eight caps for the Swiss national side, so he’s certainly not lacking in quality, and clearly has the credentials required to be a Celtic player.

The reason for the negativity surrounding the signing of the right back, is down to a small number of social media posts from Feyenoord supporters who claim to be glad to see the back of him. You could gather a similar number of negative posts on any player moving clubs, take for instance Reo Hatate as a recent example.

Sure, the Dutch fans will have seen more of him than any of us, but he’s starting at Celtic with a clean slate, and deserves to be given a chance before any of us can even consider judging him.

Lotomba who has been signed to add some much needed depth in the right back area due to the injury sustained to Alistair Johnston, is also seen as a key player by Manager Martin O’Neill, who showered praise on his new addition.

The Veteran Irishman said: “I’m really pleased to bring Jordan to Celtic. He is a quick, strong and experienced player.

“He is adaptable, can play on both sides of the pitch and he is very comfortable on the ball, so I think we are bringing another quality player to the club.”

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Shorts colleagues.

My mate currently on holiday in Gran Canaria got talking to Feyenoord fans who said he is a handy guy when the game becomes a rough house, and your opponent wants a battle.Well that’s pretty much nailed on in Scotland.I think he will be just fine.

Lotomba is possibly the closest to
O KT Celtic could get. He is a top player

Yesterday, there was even a ‘contributor’ waking lyrical about the Board possibly selling Duran before the ‘Window’ closed! Such crass material serves absolutely no purpose. And that’s just one other example of the juvenile nonsense now being spouted much too regularly on the site.

MoN took on our managerial job, despite the amount of challenging decisions involved within a rebuilding process?

Still don’t know why he was prepared to do so?
But certainly delighted now that he did imo?

MoN was working under a totally different agenda, to most managers. Forming a squad for this season, along with leaving plenty available for the next incoming manager to our club?
So was hardly thinking of himself and his own managerial career, within his overall decision making?
That was done, moreso with the good of our club in mind, especially in the longer run.

So bringing in 10 players, and expecting all 10 to be an instant success, within our so critical fan base at times, was an impossible task, especially with fan media trying to do the work of a collective, in keeping the anti board brigade relevant imo?

Thankfully we still have enough within our support to see through such nonsense, within our club?
Every player deserves there opportunity, so making judgements before seeing what they offer to our team, is way beyond embarrassing imo?
It has taken Yang, 4 seasons to be fully accepted within our club, to now regarded as a valuable member of our playing squad?
This despite having to take on the Maeda role, which he is currently doing very well within?
This despite many within our support, would have been happy if he did depart last summer?

To much unwarranted criticism and judgements can be placed upon our players at times imo?
Even moreso with the anti board brigade, trying to belittle our players, to increase such an agenda?
We as a club have enough trouble in trying to attract the quality of player we are looking for, to bring to Scottish football as it is?
Without adding to it in, trying to destroy there confidence before they have even put there boots on within our jersey imo?
