Celtic have confirmed the signing of exciting young midfielder Joël van den Berg. The Scottish Champions have added the 19-year-old to their midfield ranks on a long-term contract.
Celtic struck a deal in excess of £3.5m for the PSV Eindhoven starlet and a deal was expected to be completed. Before Celtic’s impressive 3-0 win over Aberdeen, supporters spotted van den Berg arriving off the team bus in Celtic kit.

Martin O’Neill spoke positively about the addition of the Dutch U19 midfielder.
“We are really pleased to bring Joel to the club.
“He is a hungry young player with real talent and technical ability and I believe he has a very exciting future ahead of him.
“I think he is a player that our fans will enjoy watching and I know he will be an important addition to our squad.”
It remains to be seen whether Celtic make any further additions to the midfield. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looked impressive this evening but the Celts have also added Mika Baur and Oliver Sorensen to compete in the middle of the park. Van den Berg will likely be one for the future but could very well stake a claim for first team minutes this season.
