Ange Postecoglou has revealed Celtic celebrity super-fan Rod Stewart used to send him boxes of Australian wine whenever the Hoops beat Rangers…
Postecoglou spent two hugely successful seasons at the Hoops, winning five of the six domestic trophies available before leaving Celtic to take charge of Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023.
The Australian remains a popular figure among the Parkhead support after transforming Celtic following his arrival from Yokohama F. Marinos and overseeing a dominant period against their city rivals.

And those derby victories apparently came with an added bonus for Postecoglou courtesy of legendary singer and lifelong Hoops supporter Stewart.
Recalling the unusual reward, Postecoglou said: “When I was at Celtic, Rod Stewart would send me a whole box of Aussie wines every time we beat Rangers.
“And we did it a fair few times!
“So I’ve got boxes and boxes of Aussie wines that he would send me.
“He did ask for them back when I left Celtic, to be fair… ‘No more for you!’”

Meanwhile current Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is the flavour of the month with the Maggie May signer songwriter and hopefully he’ll be seeing red on more than a couple of occasions this month as Celtic take on the latest Ibrox club at Ibrox in the Premier Sports Cup quarter final on Sunday 13 September then a week late on Sunday 20 September at Celtic Park in the Scottish Premiership.
Let’s hope after those games are played Martin is on the receiving end of a few cases of vintage red win from Rod Stewart to celebrate two Glasgow Derby triumphs over the club formed by Founding Father Charles Green back in July 2012.
