The dates and times for the upcoming Premier Sports Cup clashes have been revealed, with Celtic’s clash with Dundee United at Tannadice set for a 5.45pm kick off on Saturday 15th of August, a showdown that will be shown live on Premier Sports…

As I wrote earlier in the week, we’ve been chosen for a Saturday evening kick off, one of two slots I predicted, with the other slot I also predicted seeing Kilmarnock face Ayrshire rivals Ayr United, which will take place on the Friday evening, and will also be broadcast on Premier Sports with a 7.45pm kick off.
The other game that will be shown live on the sports Channel, is between League Cup holders St Mirren, and last season’s losing semi finalists the Rangers at Ibrox, with that game being allotted a 4.00pm kick off on Sunday 16 August.

As for our own game, which is undoubtedly the tie of the round, it will be an extremely tough one, and we will need to be at our best to overcome a side that beat us twice at the same venue last year. Dundee United started their season last night with Jim Goodwin’s team left frustrated at only taking a point from the Rangers, in the 1-1 draw at Tannadice.

Celtic will want to go one better way than last year and win the League cup, that goes without saying, as our pre-season target will be to win yet another treble. Martin O’Neill certainly won’t be guilty of taking the game lightly, and he knows that he will have to field our strongest available side.
Hopefully there will be a few new arrivals before the Hoops take the field at Tannadice to start our Premier Sports Cup run which hopefully will take us all the way to Hampden and a chance to lift the first silverware of the season to set up a very Merry Christmas for the Celtic support.
