The Season Ticket Alliance Trust, set up by businessman and well known Celtic supporter Willie Haughey earlier this year has provided an update on how they are progressing in their objectives to sign up as many of the Celtic season tickets as possible…

Willie Haughey has pledged up to £10m to the Season Ticket Alliance and for every ten thousand season ticket holders that sign up he will release £2m to purchase shares in the the club which will owned by the Alliance on behalf of the Celtic support.

In this way Willie Haughey aims to increase the say that the Celtic support has at the club and in time to gain access to the Celtic Board for a supporter through this vehicle.

Celtic Legend Paul McStay has signed up as the Season Ticket Alliance Trust Ambassador while Matt McGlone who was front and centre of the early 1990’s campaign against the old Celtic Board is a prominent supporter of Haughey’s initiative which he believes is an important route to getting the Celtic’s support’s voices heard inside the club.

Supporters already invest hugely in the club through their season tickets. That’s why joining the Trust comes at no additional cost.

The aim is to bring supporters together, and work towards supporter representation at board level.

In the latest update Paul McStay reveals that so far over three thousand season ticket holders have joined the Alliance and as a result of that the Trust has been able to build a substantial shareholding in the club, which is owned by the Trust itself and NOT by Willie Haughey.

Here’s the latest update that has been posted to all 3,000 plus members of the Season Ticket Alliance by Paul McStay.

Thank you for joining the Season Ticket Alliance Trust. As promised, we will now launch our social media campaign, and very soon everyone will know exactly how easy it is to join.

We are delighted to tell you that over 3,000 season ticket holders have already joined, and this is before we have even released our joining campaign.

It was always the aim of the Trust to build a substantial shareholding, and I am delighted to inform you that the Trust now holds the voting rights on nearly 800,000 shares. This is WITHOUT asking any of our 3,000 members for their proxy on any shares that they hold.

Every single member can now be proud they are part of something that has a credible shareholding.
