Marcelo Saracchi is on the verge of beginning a new chapter in Major League Soccer after agreeing a transfer to Houston Dynamo.
The Uruguayan’s future had been the subject of speculation since he revealed earlier this summer that his time at Celtic had come to an end following the expiry of his loan spell.
Although Saracchi openly admitted he had hoped to secure a permanent switch to the Hoops, discussions failed to produce an agreement and the move ultimately fell through.
With Celtic continuing their search for left-back reinforcements, the 28-year-old now looks set to continue his career in the United States instead.
According to Cesar Luis Merlo, Houston Dynamo have struck a deal worth $1.25 million, approximately £930,000, to sign Saracchi.
The report adds that the full-back has agreed a three-year contract with the MLS outfit.
Martin O’Neill had been keen to explore the possibility of bringing Saracchi back to Glasgow, but the Celtic manager has since shifted his focus towards other defensive options.
Last season, Saracchi largely provided cover for Kieran Tierney, although the Scotland international’s fitness issues ensured he remained an important member of the squad.
A trusted figure under O’Neill, Saracchi featured 27 times in all competitions, with injuries preventing him from adding to that tally.
