‘He’d be interested’ – Greg Taylor Celtic return claim emerges

Greg Taylor would be open to making a return to Celtic this summer as the Hoops look to strengthen their options at left-back.

The Scotland international left the Hoops for PAOK on a free transfer last year following the arrival of Kieran Tierney but has since fallen out of favour in Thessaloniki.

Celtic are back in the market for cover on the left after deciding against signing Marcelo Saracchi permanently following his loan spell.

And Mark Guidi believes Taylor is waiting for firm offers as he looks to return to the UK, with a second spell at Celtic potentially appealing to the defender.

Guidi said on the Go Radio Football Show: “I think Greg Taylor wants to come home, as in, back to the UK.

“I think if he could come back to Celtic, he’d be interested.

“I think there’s a bit of interest from Celtic.

“I don’t really think he’s got many concrete offers on the table, so right now, he’s there for the taking, if you like.

“I wouldn’t have a problem with it at all. What Celtic need to do – because the market’s been open for a month, Celtic have been back training for six weeks, Martin wanted more in the door…

“You need to just start ticking off your problems. Ticking off your to-do list. If Greg Taylor’s going to tick off that left-back to-do list, get it done.

“Why wait? Just get it done, and that’s one less headache, one less problem. Get it done in the next 48 hours before the European window closes.”

Still say Taylor remains favourite for that last position to fulfill our 8 homegrown requirements within our finalised 25man European squad imo?

It can’t and won’t happen before or during the Lusk games, with Taylor eligible.
So realistically, potentially looking at a Tierney and scales combination to cover the LB position for the CL qualification games imo?

This potential young lad from Chelsea, is intriguing all the same?
Maybe a place is going to be available within our CL qualification squad?
But doubtful a place will be available for him within our finalised 25man European squad for the league phase imo?
However, having extra cover for our SPFL campaign, could be useful, especially with the injury factors of Tierney, still a concern?

With ourselves only looking like having 4 CB in operation for our European campaign?
It’s still not totally clear upon who MoN will prefer to partner CCV?
Or even if a back 3, might be introduced for certain games either just yet?
Might be a possibility this weekend all the same, which in turn, provides another dimension to our overall squad imo?

As for Taylor, I can see a squad place available for him, within our own finalised squad?
But will potentially be upon reduced game time availability, especially if MoN continues with only 2 defensive options on the bench, within our 20man SPFL match day squad?
So potentially only a rotational policy with Tierney available, and wouldn’t be so sure Taylor would be that interested in such an arrangement, unless Tierney picks up an unwanted injury?

So still plenty for MoN to consider, regarding our LB position, within our squad building process at the moment imo?
