Former Celtic captain Scott Brown believes the Hoops should make a late move for Dundee United left-back Will Ferry as Martin O’Neill looks to strengthen his squad before the transfer deadline.
Ferry has been linked with a move to Celtic and further enhanced his reputation with a goal of the season contender in Dundee United’s 3-0 victory away to Kilmarnock on Saturday.
The 25-year-old’s performance impressed Brown, who believes Ferry shares several qualities with Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney and could represent a relatively inexpensive option for his former club.
“Will Ferry for me was incredible today from start to finish, and they will do well to hold onto him,” he said on BBC Sportscene. “I think if you’re looking at Celtic at this moment in time, he’s similar to Kieran.
“He’s powerful, he wants to drive forward, very good crosser of the ball.
“I think a lot of people naturally think he just wants to go forward all the time, but he’s a very, very good defender, that’s what Kieran is as well.
“It would be a very good move for Celtic if they go and snap him up, because there’s been a bid for £1.7million already, and he didn’t want to go.
“It’s quite a cheap option to go and hopefully get a person who knows the league.”

Seem to be linked to every player should have got the signings in earlier ,always the same dragging their heals and waiting,cost us big time although the cash from the champions league would just have topped up the 7 million they already have,which won’t see the light of day in transfers.
Scott Brown is spot on for me for that money it’s a no trainers go get him now .
