The Scottish champions remain in negotiations with Paderborn over a deal for midfielder Baur after reports claimed an initial £4 million bid had been knocked back, although optimism reportedly remains that an agreement can still be reached before the window closes.

Having previously played down talk of an exit, Paderborn head coach Ralf Kettemann has now indicated the club are prepared should the Germany Under-21 international depart.

He told Kicker: “We have good players internally and also good ideas in case something happens. So I’m relaxed.”

Elsewhere, reports in Spain suggest Celtic target Haissem Hassan has declined a lucrative proposal from Saudi Arabia as uncertainty over his future at Real Oviedo continues.

The Egyptian international caught the eye during the World Cup and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, with Celtic among those credited with monitoring his situation.

According to La Nueva España, a Saudi Pro League side tabled an offer which included a five-year contract worth around £2 million per season.

However, the report claims Hassan has rejected the proposal as he remains determined to continue his career with a club in European football.
