Celtic-linked goalkeeper Nikolas Polster appears set to take the next step in his career away from Austria, with NEC Nijmegen closing in on his signature.
The Hoops were credited with an interest in the 24-year-old earlier this summer as they assessed their goalkeeping options, but a move to the Hoops now looks unlikely.
According to Kronen Zeitung, Polster is poised to join Eredivisie outfit NEC Nijmegen and is expected to undergo a medical with the Dutch club on Monday.
The Austrian seemingly made his final Wolfsberger appearance at the weekend, producing an impressive display as his side earned a 1-1 draw against Danny Rohl’s RB Salzburg.
Polster was subsequently asked whether his performance could have strengthened interest from potential suitors, although he played down the significance of one individual display.
He said: “I don’t believe that one game decides whether I make a transfer or not. I showed what I’m capable of today. We’ll see what happens next in the coming days.”
