Celtic have been ordered to play their next home Scottish Cup fixture behind closed doors following the pitch invasion that marred last season’s dramatic quarter-final victory over Rangers at Ibrox.
The Scottish FA has also ordered the Hoops to pay £100,000 in compensation to whichever club they are drawn against, covering the ticket revenue their opponents will lose as a result of the stadium closure.
Rangers have been handed identical sanctions after supporters from both clubs entered the pitch following Celtic’s penalty shootout victory.
An SFA Tribunal statement via Sky Sports confirmed: “By unanimous decision, the Tribunal imposes the following sanctions under Rule 37:
“Orders that the Club’s next home Scottish Cup match be played behind closed doors.
“Orders that the Club make a compensatory payment of £100,000 to the away side drawn in respect of said next home Scottish Cup match, payment to be made within 30 days of completion of the match.”
Celtic have also been hit with a further suspended stadium closure, which will remain hanging over the club until the end of the 2027/28 campaign.
That sanction will be activated if Celtic fail to prevent their supporters from engaging in unacceptable conduct at any Scottish Cup fixture during that period.
Should it be triggered, another home Scottish Cup match would be played behind closed doors, with Celtic again required to pay their opponents £100,000 within 30 days of the fixture.

Not condoning what our support did…but to be treated the same way as their thugs, is a disgrace…Our Club will roll over again….BUT THEY SHOULDN’T…These morons get away with murder.
Punished by the SFA because they know the huns were at fault but havnt the cajones to punish only them. My immediate reaction is to withdraw our participation in the cup until this shameful decision is rescinded. Drastic move but after two centuries of biased orange decisions against us, it is time to take the most drastic of action. And, if we have any representatives on the sfa, pull them out. We would all like to know the names of the so called ,” Independent Tribunal” members who established a judgement heavily biased against Celtic and Celtic suppoorters . Video evidence clearly shows That only a small number of Celtic fans entered the pitch . They were jubilant and non violent ; shaking hands and congratulating Celtic players and backroom staff .
Compare this to an invasion of Rangers thugs who :- Invaded the pitch wearing Ski masks to conceal their identity ; who ran towards Celtic players and supporters carrying Flairs and other devices ; Also confronting Police and openly assaulting Secuity personnel . All these events were recorded on camera so the veracity of the evidence can in no way desputed . On this basis how can a seemingly , ” Independent Panel ” apportion equal blame to both clubs ? Let’s find -out the names of the so-called , ” independent Tribunal ” members and we will see just how impartial they really were . Also , since trbunals don’t come cheep, expose these Bigots , have them in court to explain how they came to such a biased and Bigoted judgement ?
Just the SFA doing what they do best. Hide behind the facts.
