Celtic could face fresh competition in their pursuit of Gvidas Gineitis, with Crystal Palace reportedly ready to enter the race for the Torino midfielder.

The 22-year-old has emerged as one of the Hoops’ main midfield targets following Arne Engels’ £22million move to West Ham United over the weekend.
However, Celtic may now have to fend off Premier League interest if they are to bring the Lithuania international to Glasgow.
According to Europacalcio, Crystal Palace have set their sights on Gineitis and could soon open negotiations over a potential move.
Torino’s asking price has been reported at between £8million and £12million, while Red Bull Salzburg are also actively interested, with Danny Rohl understood to be an admirer. Anderlecht have also reportedly made their interest known.
The timing could complicate matters for Celtic.
Martin O’Neill’s side have until 11pm on Tuesday to register any additional players for their crucial Champions League play-off against LASK Linz.
Gineitis played the full 90 minutes for Torino in their Coppa Italia tie over the weekend, meaning Celtic would have to move quickly if they want him available for the European showdown.
The 6ft 3in, left-footed midfielder only turned 22 in April but already has the equivalent of 43 full matches of Serie A football under his belt.
Gineitis joined Torino from Lithuanian side Atmosfera Mazeikiai in January 2023 and has since established himself at senior international level.

Given up on him as a potential incoming player?
Was always going to be a longshot, for a player to leave seria A football for the SPFL imo?
CL football had to be guaranteed, before such a singing to become a potential reality imo?
As that’s not in place yet, it’s no wonder that other potential targets are being considered?
Even at that, it’s still not clear upon what actual profile of midfielder we are looking for either?
Thinking that decision will be made after tomorrow night?
A better defensive midfielder is potentially required, but how will that work with calmac, who is currently sitting deeper nowadays?
Personally wouldn’t class ourselves as a strong team without the football imo?
That will be tested over this CL qualification games against Lask?
Yet we play the majority of our games upon the front foot within Scottish football, hence the bigger requirement for the play making midfielder that calmac does as his role moreso within our team?
So currently, not convinced that a defensive midfielder, is the right combination to accommodate calmac in our central midfield areas?
So tomorrow night, we may well have to adopt a more aggressive press in order to stop ourselves getting played through our midfield areas.
Especially as we have the attacking options to cause plenty of opportunities in transitional play, and even within a counter attacking game, if MoN chooses imo?
