Celtic REJECT Dundee approach for defender
And the 23 year-old Celtic defender was a target for the Dens Park manager who will be disappointed that Celtic rejected the approach, with Dane Murray being very much part of Martin O’Neill’s plans as the back-up right sided central defender for Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Celtic did go in for Brentford defender Benjamin Arthur who impressed while on loan at Celtic last season, but a bid of around £7m was quickly rejected for the defender who is seen as very much part of the Premier League club’s plans.
That possibly has had a knock-on effect with Martin O’Neill settling for Dane Murray as his back-up for Celtic’s Big Strong Man with Auston Trusty and Liam Scales competing for the left hand side spot in Celtic’s central defence.
Dundee looking at four additions
The Courier today reports that Dundee approached Celtic looking to take Dane Murray on loan but Celtic quickly rejected the approach. Perhaps if Brentford’s position changes then that could have the knock-on effect of seeing Murray moving to Dens Park for the season.
While Brentford have made it clear that Benjamin Arthur is NOT for sale there is a chance that they could sanction another loan for the 20 year old that the Dundee boss compared to Virgil van Dyk while working at Brentford.
Celtic may well have noted their interest in a loan deal for Benjamin Arthur and that could have a domino effect for Dane Murray and a move to Dens Park.

Pete O’Rourke, the Transfer correspondent at Football Insider reports that an imminent Brentford deal could trigger a Celtic return for Benjamin Arthur. We reported on Celtic Shorts that Arthur was back at Lennoxtown during the pre-season and was seen in Celtic colours.
Dane Murray could certainly do with a decent run of first team football and outside of injury issues concerning CCV, that’s unlikely to be the case at Celtic.
There are a few ifs and maybes here but it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on.

Wishful thinking, I would say, as it creates another problem with ourselves trying to fill our homegrown quota requirements within our 25man European squad imo?
Already have that potentially developing regarding Ralston, especially with Donovan as a B listed player, getting the SPFL match day squad position, ahead of him at present?
Even moreso, that there hasn’t been any updates regarding this so called new contract for Ralston?
If Taylor should return, then that potentially reduces the pressure upon our homegrown requirements?
But wouldn’t say that it’s totally resolved either, with the decision making involved within the issue either imo?
Wouldn’t be in favour of reduced squad numbers in place, especially with the amount of injuries that occurred last season imo?
So even trying to fill every position, within forming a 25man European squad, still leaves a decision upon whether a place, should still be left available for his return eventually?
Personally, don’t think CCV and Tierney, can manage the 3 games in a week, once the European campaign begins?
So maybe more game management will have to be introduced?
Managers in general, don’t tend to like making to many changes within a defensive set up of a team?
But is this something MoN might be considering?
Especially with such a busy footballing calendar in operation, that could involve a 60 odd match season for our international players, these days in place?
So, do believe that our 8 homegrown players, do have a role to play within our squad?
Even if it is regarded moreso for within our SPFL campaign, moreso than a European campaign imo?
