Celtic’s interest in Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis has been acknowledged by the player’s representative, who has revealed discussions have taken place while dismissing reports that an official bid has already been submitted.
The Scottish champions have been linked with the Lithuania international in recent weeks, with reports claiming an opening proposal had been rejected by the Serie A side, who are believed to value the midfielder at around €15 million.
However, Gineitis’ agent, Dmitry Vinokurov, has moved to clarify the situation, insisting Celtic have yet to make a formal approach despite establishing contact.
Speaking to CeltsAreHere, he said: “Yes, people from Celtic have been in contact with me, but there was no offer yet.
“I appreciate their effort and am ready to cooperate, but I also have to keep working on other options for Gvidas.
“This information started with saying that there had been an offer before and it was not good enough. That’s not true.”
Vinokurov also suggested the prospect of a move to the Hoops is one that would interest his client should negotiations develop further.
He added: “Gvidas also appreciates the interest from such a big club and is ready to see the offer.”

Would say that the enquiries are about wage demands as usual?
Until we actually get a better idea, upon what is the potential budget, for forming an entire squad, actually stands at?
Then we are going to continue to go around in circles, regarding the possibility of bringing in more of these more expensive signings imo?
Still believe that there is room available within our wage structure and budget, to accommodate such potential signings?
But don’t actually know for sure, and still leaves the question as, whether our wage budget is sufficient or not for the demands of our club, with player recruitment?
More expensive players, will demand higher wages within contracts?
But still seems to be a reluctance to maybe expand the wage budget, as the money for the fees involved, is sitting in the bank doing nothing?
Especially with more expected to be incoming soon enough also?
The profile of the player is required?
The asking fee isn’t out of our reach?
But the wage demands involved is unknown, or even if we would be prepared to pay them?
Even if the prospect of SPFL football is becoming a harder sell, for the quality factor we are looking for?
And getting a proper defensive midfielder into our team, with how we are currently set up, especially with calmac filling the position as such, despite being a proper defensive midfielder?
So plenty to take into account for such a potential signing?
To many question marks in existence, to be a serious target imo?
But potentially would require ourselves to be a CL team for next season, in order for it to become a bigger reality imo?
