Torino monitoring Arne Engels’ situation at Celtic

Torino are said to be monitoring Arne Engels’ situation this summer window, in light of Celtic’s interest in Gineitis Gvidas…

The Italian side have been alerted to potential Hoops interest in their midfielder, as they eye the the Lithuanian international as a possible Engels replacement at some point.

Engels is highly-regarded down in England and further afield too, as the Belgian cap is attracting major admiration in his services this year.

The man who Brendan Rodgers shelled out £11.5 million for back in the summer transfer window of 2024, has proven to be worth every penny of that initial outlay, and will more than likely smash the record fee the club received for Matt O’Riley when he inevitably leaves Paradise.

Torino are well aware of the situation surrounding Arne Engels and are eyeing a major payday as a result, if Celtic come knocking for Gvidas soon.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the Serie A side will be looking for a sensational €15 million for their big midfielder, in the event that the Bhoys turn to Gvidas to fill the Engels-shaped void that is almost certainly going to appear in Martin O’Neill’s squad, at some point throughout the duration of this summer.

With Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, AS Roma, AFC Bournemouth and a whole raft of other football clubs wanting to take Arne off our hands this window, the club’s hierarchy will be hoping and praying for a bidding war to break out amongst everyone.

That would pretty much ensure that the Hoops would get well over the fee of £25 million that Brighton and Hove Albion paid for Matt O’Riley, in the same month that we brought in Engels from Bundesliga outfit FC Augsburg.

Torino were initially thought to value Lithuanian Gvidas at around the £9 million mark, but that now appears to be premature, if new Italian reports are to be believed.

With interest now becoming more intense surrounding the future of 22-year-old Engels, as Nottingham Forest are said to be really keen on spending some of that £116 million fortune they made through Eliot Anderson on Arne, it looks like Torino are holding out for something better.
