Orgryte’s sporting director has admitted to interest in rumoured Celtic target Michael Parker…

The big defender shot into the headlines last week, when a report suggested that Celtic, along with several other clubs, were looking at the former West Brom man with a view to making a move for him this window.
It is no secret now that Martin O’Neill will be busy this summer transfer window and will be monitoring a whole host of potential candidates, who could come in and improve the squad and more importantly, the starting line-up too.
With talks ongoing at the moment for Qarabag forward Camilo Duran, more moves are expected over the coming days and weeks, as Martin stamps his authority on this side.
21-year-old Parker has garnered attention and praise following a very successful spell in Swedish football with Orgryte.
The towering defender, who is also quite versatile – being able to play centre-back and left-back – is thought to be on the market for around £1.5 to 2 million at present, with Rudy Galetti confirming recently that a clutch of clubs are watching him closely, ahead of making a prospective move this window.
Newcastle United, Sunderland, Brentford, FC Copenhagen, Eintracht Franfurt, Sturm Graz, Red Bull Salzburg, Sporting CP and Celtic are all thought to be looking into the ex-Baggies player this summer window, with an impressive start to life in Swedish football spearking this recent spate of interest in a relatively unknown quantity, having played most of his football at youth and lower level.

Speaking on his player, the sporting director of the Gothenburg club, Pontus Farnerud, said: “There is interest in Michael. Clubs have contacted me. He has a strong profile and possesses qualities that make him attract interest, but at the moment, all focus for both Michael and the club is the match against Kalmar this weekend.”
As reported by Fotbollskanalen, in Sweden, the club chief stated remained coy when prompted on the suggestion that there had been any concrete bids made for his star player. “Have there been any offers for him? No comment,” Farnerud stated.

There has been no shortage of names rumoured within our CB position, at present during this window so far?
Only potentially makes sense, if MoN is considering of setting up the 3CB option, as our defensive set up imo?
The profile of Parker, seems similar to that of Scales, along with Trusty and even Tierney as an emergency option in the left CB role, within a 3CB set up imo?
Could even allow for CCV, Trusty in the centre, with rocki and Murray in the right CB role, as an example, especially with so many alternatives and flexibility available imo?
I don’t see ourselves going for a CB, where footballing opportunities would be limited within a back 4, especially with 5 CB already under contract in the position at present?
Even at that, the 5th CB role is usually filled with a loan player, especially as CCV, Trusty and scales would be favourites to fill the 3CB positions within a back 4 in a 20man SPFL match day squad imo?
So very doubtful, any player looking for playing time with ourselves, would be even interested in ourselves, if such a back 4 approach was to be taken by MoN imo?
Could already play the 3CB option for pre season at present, despite Trusty still away also?
Even if Rocki is looking to move on during the summer, it would potentially be later on during the window?
So don’t understand why so many rumours around the CB positions, if the 3CB option isn’t within the thoughts of MoN imo?
