Shelbourne defender Sean Gannon has become an unlikely social media sensation after receiving one of the most unusual man-of-the-match prizes seen in football.

The 34-year-old earned the individual accolade following an impressive display in his side’s 1-1 pre-season draw with Celtic, but it was the award itself that stole the spotlight.
Instead of lifting a conventional trophy, Gannon posed for photographs holding a brand-new chainsaw, with the images quickly attracting plenty of attention online.
The friendly had looked destined to finish goalless before a frantic finale saw Harry Wood convert a late penalty for Shelbourne, only for Celtic’s Shin Yamada to level from the spot moments later.
Despite the dramatic ending, the post-match presentation generated even more discussion than the action on the pitch.
