Marcelo Saracchi, who had a successful period on loan at Celtic last season has been shunned by Boca juniors on his his first day of preseason training…
According to reports in Argentina, Saracchi was immediately informed that he wasn’t in the plans of newly appointed manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena.
Arruabarrena returned to the Argentine club for a second spell last month, and despite never having worked with Saracchi, he’s made his mind up and decided to let him move on. The Boca Juniors manager has now shared his thoughts with the player and his representatives.
Saracchi and Kieran Tierney give Celtic strength in depth at left-back
The 28 year old left back arrived in Glasgow last August, and despite some injury problems, as well as being viewed as back up to Kieran Tierney, the Uruguayan international became a popular figure among the Celtic supporters. That was due to his commitment and impressive displays that helped the club clinch a domestic double.
Marcelo, whose accumulated a stack of experience in his career, playing for the likes of River Plate, RB Leipzig, Galatasaray, and Levante, as well as the Uruguayan national side, adds great depth and quality to our squad, and with KT’s fitness still rather questionable at times, he proved to be a useful asset to Martin O’Neill in the pressure cooker title run in last season.
Martin O’Neill is a huge admirer of Marcelo
Martin O’Neill is a huge admirer of the player, and it’s not a secret that he wants to bring him back to Glasgow on a permanent basis. It’s not hard to see why this is case so it’s baffling that this deal isn’t simply an easy one to conclude.
The supporters love him, the manager admires him, and most importantly, he’s a proven quality player. One who’s proved himself at our club, and the Scottish game, with all the pressures it entails. So we very much know what we’re getting, and he wouldn’t represent a gamble.
Michael Nicholson has yet to spend a penny this year on transfers
This deal is begging to be done. It couldn’t be any simpler. Over to you Michael, it’s about time you spent your first penny in 2026 on a transfer fee. Get it done and bring Marcelo back to Paradise.
Just an Ordinary Bhoy

Somehow don’t think it can be as easy as your assessment suggests?
Personally believe that an issue between Saracchi and Boca is in play at present, especially as Saracchi only has a year on his contract to go, if that’s correct?
Hence Saracchi would prefer a loan away, and that makes him a free agent next summer, in order to get a huge signing on fee for himself?
Of course Boca would want the potential 2M fee for him now, instead of letting him walk for nothing next summer?
So if we are on the outside, looking in on the situation, it’s potentially ourselves that has to find the solutions in a standoff, which of course would be money?
Many potential options are available to find a solution, but we won’t be held to ransom over them either imo?
Of course it all counts for nothing, if Saracchi is going to currently, keep his options open also, especially with looking for his last big contract within his career also?
So if a situation is in operation, do we walk away and look for someone else, or continue to play the waiting game to conclude a deal?
Without knowing what the situation is within the background, it’s not so easy to make the assumptions imo?
Celtic won’t spend until they sell Nicholson has nothing to do with negotiations that’s all down to the dictator
