Reported Celtic target Radek Vitek is eager to leave Old Trafford this summer transfer window. The Manchester United star made the headlines when he was mentioned as a potential Hoops target, as Martin O’Neill looks to reinforce the goalkeeping department this window…
The club have been linked with a plethora of names lately and none moreso than the men between the sticks. Hertha Berlin’s Tjark Ernst was rumoured to be strongly on the radar before his eventual move to Dutch side Feyenoord, whilst Croatian goalkeeper Dinko Horkas‘ name refuses to go away, in what is fast-becoming a transfer saga in its own right.
Vitek, meanwhile, is eager to depart Michael Carrick’s outift this summer, in search of more first-team opportunities elsewhere.
Speaking on his current situation and his ambitions for the future in the game, Vitek said: “I feel great and go again somewhere to be number one, so we will see what happens. At the moment, I am still here, and we will see. I hope so. I hope so, that there will be some interest.
“Yeah, I think you will know when things are more concrete. I am ready for both (loan or permanent). It depends on what the club wants. It also depends on the options. We will see. There have been a few interests on the table. Hopefully, we get the best one – my mind is still the same,” he said to Stetford Paddock.
“I want to play,” an honest Vitek admitted. “I want to play every week. That’s the goal for next season.Hopefully, I will find out soon where it’s going to be – I have grown during the past two-and-a-half years, when I went on a few loans. I grow on the pitch as well.”
It remains to be seen what direction of travel Martin O’Neill chooses to go down vis-a-vis a new goalkeeper. However, the manager has now come out and left the supporters in doubt as to what he wants, meaning there can be no contradicting messages re: goalkeepers this summer window.
Right enough, he wanted Iheanacho and Saracchi and he got them both – didn’t he..?
