Real Oviedo boss Julian Calero has admitted he is ready for some key players to leave this summer window, as he remoulds a squad for the Spanish second division, following Oviedo’s relegation last year…
This has come after days and days of speculation surrounding Egyptian World Cup star Haissem Hassan, who it has been claimed by numerous sources, is high on the Hoops hit-list.
The player has been mentioned by various outlets and even South American journalist Pablo Oliviera claimed that Celtic were upping the ante in their pursuit of the winger.
Many thought that would be in the form of an official bid, but thus far there has been zero bids made for the speedster who shot to fame during his country’s match against former world champions Argentina, over in North America and Mexico this summertime.
Then reports had surfaced that the Bhoys view Hassan primarily as their Daizen Maeda replacement, as he is the subject of a £10 million bid from English Premier League side Ipswich Town.
It has been widely reported now that Hassan is the one Martin O’Neill views as the man to fill Maeda’s shoes and it is now just a matter of time before The Tractor Boys seal the deal for the Japanese international.
Anthony Joseph at Sky Sports has also confirmed that Michael Nicholson has actually done something and made an enquiry for a player we now badly need through the door.
It is now beginning to verge on the farcical how inept the current CEO of Celtic Football Club is, and if things don’t change quickly, the supporters could be in for another agonising season ahead.
Oviedo boss Calero though has revealed he expects departures and trimming of the squad to focus more on youth moving forward. As reported by Killer Asturias, the Real Oviedo manager said: “I don’t like large squads because of the problems they create. Oviedo is a club that relies on its youth academy, and young players need to be given a chance when the first-team players aren’t playing. But that’s a decision for the club and the sporting director.”

Agreed that Nicholson doesn’t provide any inspiration in actually getting deals done whatsoever?
I can understand delays, with players keeping there own options open, upon career moves?
Can even understand that the SPFL is becoming a harder sell, especially with the Scottish coefficient dropping like a brick at present?
Even so, our club can provide a successful and decent career opportunity all the same?
But to much focus seems to be with the player trading model, moreso than what they can provide, upon the quality required out on the pitch imo?
Would class Duran as the replacement for Maeda, with his flexibility.
But wouldn’t say Balikwisha is to high in the plans of MoN still, so at least 1 wide option had to be added imo?
Even if Nicholson can get his act together for Hussain, still not entirely clear as to whether just 1 more wide option is going to be sufficient, within our squad building process either?
It would be a start at least, but with confidence within Nicholson, dropping as each passing day arrives?
It remains as nothing to get to excited about, unless it finally gets done. Even then it would only be regarded as a relief more than anything else imo?
I’m hoping this isn’t just a last minute flurry by the board. I know very little about these guy’s coming in but certainly do about the one’s going out. So is this Celtic squad getting any stronger !!! Time will tell and you have to trust Martin O’Neil because fhese guy’s wouldn’t get the nod if he didn’t like them. Again looking at what’s happening Celtic are NOT signing unless their selling first so you can be rest assurd nobody else will come in until Arnie Engles or Alister Johnson is sold. Its one step forward and two steps back. WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE BOARD. because their only interested in profit which lines their pockets. They have absolutely NO interest whats on the park NONE
