Real Oviedo are reportedly considering an offer from Celtic for Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan…

The World Cup star was involved in Egypt’s unfortunate defeat to Argentina yesterday over in the USA and put in a fantastic display for his country, as they narrowly succumbed to a Lionel Messi-inspired Argentine side.

Reports have now emerged from Spain that the forward is high on Martin O’Neill’s hit-list and that the club have now actually made the first move for a player who is garnering lots of interest, following a really productive World Cup tournament with his national team this summer over in North America and Mexico.

Right-wing is definitely a position that Martin O’Neill needs to bolster, with only Yang and James Forrest currently occupying the spots presently. With Forrest now 34-years-old and his best days behind him, all respect to the Celtic legend, Yang is not a starting Hoops winger, despite the marked improvement from the South Korean last year under Martin O’Neill.

It now looks like O’Neill fancies the Egyptian star Hassan, with a report from Fondo Segunda stating that a bid has already been launched for the attacker.

It suggests that this fee would be in the region of £3.4 million for Hassan, but that is only a starting offer from the Bhoys, as his stock is high just now, with Turkish and Saudi interest there too.

Likewise, the player’s release clause had been set at £16 million, which had to be reduced when Oviedo were relegated from La Liga last term.

Still though, various reports have it that the Spanish club would still be looking for something approximate to £10 million, as Villarreal are also due a percentage of any future sell-on fee, believed to be as much as 40%, when he moved to Real Oviedo.

It now appears that Celtic have made their opening gambit for the winger, as Martin O’Neill awaits the rubber-stamping of the Camilo Duran contract, pending a successful medical.

There won’t be to much consideration done, if a 3.4M bid, was actually made imo?

So would dismiss that amount straight away, and doubtful even Nicholson, would make such a cheeky offer also imo?
Hopefully a sensible bid has been made by ourselves, especially as it’s a great indication, that he is actually interested in joining ourselves imo?

That means nothing, until a deal is concluded?
And with these sell on fees involved, and release causes fees involved, only slows the whole negotiation process down?
But if we can put together a decent contract package together for him, could well improve our chances of getting him, all the same imo?
