There has been no Celtic bid for Croatian goalkeeper Dinko Horkas, despite the club being described as “best placed” in the line of potential suitors for his services…

The UD Las Palmas star’s name has been strongly connected with the Scottish giants in recent days, with it thought they are heavily interested in the stopper.
Reports vary between Horkas and German goalkeeper Tjark Ernst
Reports seem to vary between Horkas and German goalkeeperTjark Ernst, who sat out his team’s latest pre-season victory, with respected publication Bild claiming it was due to Hertha Berlin protecting their asset, ahead of a potential departure for the 23-year-old. Whilst the veracity of that cannot be ascertained fully, it is rather odd timing and very coincidental.
Subsequently, Martin O’Neill has confirmed that the goalkeeping situation is being actively looked at by the recruitment team this close season, as they aim to provide challenge and cover for both Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan, who have been left to battle it out in the aftermath of Kasper Schmeichel’s unfortunate retirement through a bad shoulder issue.
Five-in-a-row Scottish Premiership title holders
Rumours are at fever-pitch right now in relation to the Five-in-a-row Scottish Premiership title holders, as we undergo a summer of massive upheaval and change to a playing squad that has seen better days, in all honesty.
Now that the manager has confirmed that we are monitoring goalkeepers, Tjark Ernst and Dinko Horkas’ name remain the most visible at present.
The Sport.es outlet in Spain has now revealed that despite the strong interest from Celtic Park, no bid has been made for the Croatian shot-stopper Horkas, who is said to be available for between €5-7 million.

Celtic remain “best placed” to sign HorkasÂ
Even though they state that the Bhoys are “best placed” in the big queue of clubs that are watching the situation of Horkas closely, as they weigh up a move for the 27-year-old ‘keeper, they state that no formal bid has yet been lodged.

The keeper position is a huge decision for MoN to make?
It really depends upon whether he opts for keeping sinisalo as no1 choice, or looking to change it imo?
Especially as I would be very surprised if Sinisalo is prepared to play the no2 keeper role any longer?
Therefore such a decision, could well involve looking for another back up keeper as well, which we might already be thinking about, if Sinisalo is retained by MoN in the no1 keeper position?
Was always a decision in the making, as was always going to be kasper last season, despite the injury?
So Sinisalo has waited for 3 years to be confirmed as the no1 keeper choice, and personally believe he has earned the right imo?
Even at that, would Doohan still be prepared to want to play the no3 keeper role as well?
It’s ok trying to suggest keeping hold of players as they are under contract?
But getting half hearted displays as a result, is something I don’t believe MoN will want in return, which he had to contend with last season imo?
So hardly the simplest of decisions for MoN to be making regarding the keeper position, especially as we are hardly in panic territory regarding the position imo?
