Mika Baur to Celtic fee ‘revealed as clubs in talks’ and now close to reaching an agreement…
It’s been revealed that Celtic are in talks with Bundesliga side Paderborn over the transfer of highly rated midfielder Mika Baur, with the Scottish Champions already having agreed terms with the midfielder.
It emerged yesterday afternoon that the club had agreed personal terms with the player and his agent, who happens to be former Rangers FC player Christian Nerlinger, who was previously involved alongside Celtic as he operated as Nicolas Kuhn’s agent.
Now all that remains to conclude the deal is the two clubs agreeing on a fee, and according to the Daily Record, that fee is believed to be around the £4 million mark, which for a highly regarded German youth international, is something of a bargain.
In a new update today journalist Christian Vaquero reports that the deal is now almost done. He states via the social media platform X:
“Celtic, VERY close to reaching an agreement with SC Paderborn for Mika Baur. Green light from the German midfielder for the transfer and ongoing negotiations between clubs.”

22 year old Baur who has represented Germany at various youth levels is out of contract next summer, and has already been interesting serval other Bundesliga sides, most notably Schalke 04.
However, Baur who was Paderborn’s Player of the Year as they achieved promotion to the Bundesliga, is keen on a switch to the Scottish Champions, having seen how Nicolas Kuhn and Arne Engels have benefited from taking a similar path.

So far, Celtic have only signed Camilo Duran this summer. The striker has netted in friendlies against Sporting Lisbon and Middlesbrough after making the move to Glasgow from Qarabag.
Baur who has a great pedigree and has terrific potential would be a welcome addition, especially with the likes of Daizen Maeda, and Arne Engels due to head out the Celtic park exit door in the coming days.

Baur is known for his high stamina, tactical discipline, and strong passing accuracy under defensive pressure. A key player for SC Paderborn in the 2. Bundesliga, he is highly regarded by fans for his high work ethic and defensive contributions in energetic pressing systems.
With Reo Hatate, and Arne Engels clearly having played their last games for the club, those attributes will be a much welcome addition to our rather weak midfield. Some comparisons have been made by Celtic supporters and the conclusion is that Baur is a very similar player to Hatate.
Looks like a great find by Celtic, hopefully Michael Nicholson gets this deal over the line asap.
