Martin O’Neill has stressed that Celtic’s recruitment drive remains focused on bringing in players capable of improving the first team, rather than simply adding numbers to the squad.

The Hoops have already strengthened their options with the arrivals of Kasper Hogh from Bodo/Glimt in a club-record transfer and Camilo Duran from Qarabag during the current window.
With Celtic preparing to begin their Scottish Premiership title defence against Dundee on Monday evening, O’Neill has made it clear further additions are expected before the transfer deadline.
“We are trying to get quality into the football club,” he told Sky Sports.
“We lost Daizen [Maeda], and he was a big, big player for us, and so we have to replace him. I think that we are doing our best to do that. We will get more players in; there’s no question of that, also.
“But yeah, I want quality rather than quantity.”
His comments come after Maeda brought an end to his four-year spell at Celtic by sealing a transfer to newly-promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town.

Mika Baur and Hassan are quality at reasonable prices, sure to increase over the next couple of years. So why haven’t Celtic signed them? Also, Sarachi is better quality than Greg Taylor, and also cheap and available. So why haven’t we resigned Sarachi. Come on, Martin, stop being an apologist for this stingy and incompetent Board of Directors.
