Watching the recent Norway Brazil World Cup clash, I could only applaud the Norwegians for a well deserved victory, with a certain Kristoffer Ajer impressing in their defence. Let’s hope Kristoffer and his teammates are as efficient on Saturday evening against England!
Kristoffer had five successful years at Celtic
Kristoffer left Celtic after five successful years at the club back in 2021 to sign for EPL side Brentford, with whom he still plays for, in a £10 million plus deal.
The big centre back was a terrific talent, and was a mainstay in our defence, but it was notable that he was a bit raw at times, especially on the European stage.
In his defence he was still young, and had time to improve, and it seems that his time at Brentford has vastly improved his game.
Ajer has progressed playing in a top league
Brentford can’t compare to Celtic in terms of size and prestige, but playing in an environment as tough and competitive as the English premier league means that week in week out players come up against sides full of experienced international footballers.
That can only sharpen a player skills, and mindset, even the most average of players. But players of great promise such as Kristoffer, will only get better and fulfil their potential as they pit their wits against the best players in the game.
That’s why he looked so assured and confident against the likes of Vinicius Junior, Gabriel Martinelli, and Matheus Cunha, two of whom he faces domestically, and very much looked like a dominant composed centre back.
Kristoffer has shown that he made the right move
Kristoffer has shown that he made the right move, and as much as it pains us, that’s why the likes of Daizen Maeda want to move on, not just for the financial rewards, but it makes them all that much better as footballers.
Which makes them more likely to compete well at the very highest level for their national teams.
Auston Trusty last Celtic star to exit World Cup
Last Night Auston Trusty became the eighth and final Celtic star to be eliminated from the World Cup after the USA lost heavily to Belgium. But we still have our former star Kris Ayer to cheer on and there will be plenty of Celtic supporters doing just that this weekend.
