Kasper Hogh has finally signed for Celtic, six months after the clubs initial interest and everyone at the club from the supporters, to the manager is delighted by his arrival, as indeed is the player himself…
The new Celtic striker , who scored 53 goals in 102 appearances for Bodo/Glimt, cost the a massive £11 million plus, and becomes the club’s record signing as he put pen-to-paper on a four year deal, with the option of a further year.
The Danish international who will wear the number nine jersey has described his joy at signing for Celtic, and told supporters what they should expect in his first interview since putting pen to paper on a four year deal.
“I’m so happy. When I came into the room and saw the shirt, I was really excited,” the new Celtic star said.
“The history of the club is so big. I spoke with some people and with my family about the club. The feeling they had, and the feeling I had in my stomach, was that this was a really good match.”
Describing what Celtic supporters can expect from him, the striker said: “I like to be in the box and score goals, but I also want to help my team-mates defensively and work hard for the team.
“I’ve trained throughout the summer and I’ve already played league games in Norway, so I feel ready. I just want to get started and be thrown into the fire.”
The Dane is clearly in great shape, and has the required match fitness to be thrown into the proverbial fire, so he should, and most likely will be in the starting XI for Monday evening’s Scottish Premiership opener against Dundee at Celtic Park.
Kasper playing alongside Camilo Duran is a mouthwatering prospect for the Celtic support and the 60,000 heading to Paradise on Monday night will be desperate to see both new forwards in action and hopefully seeing both hit the back the net.
Hogh knows the way to goal, as his record with Bodo, both domestically and in Europe has proven. I’m sure the big man will be true to his word and be a huge success in the Hoops.
More signings are clearly needed but the Hogh signing certainly will lift spirits in the meantime.
