Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has wasted little time in making his ambitions clear after being unveiled as Al-Nassr’s new head coach, delivering a message reminiscent of the one that proved so successful during his spell in Glasgow.
The 60-year-old Australian used his first appearance in front of the media to declare his determination to bring trophies to the Saudi Pro League club.
It mirrors the confident stance he took upon arriving at Celtic in 2021, when he vowed to transform the club back into serial winners following a disastrous campaign during the 2020/21 season.
Postecoglou backed up those words by leading the Hoops to five domestic trophies across two seasons before moving on.
Ange said via Saudi Gazette: “Coming to Riyadh and starting this project is an exciting challenge in my career.
“Al Nassr is more than just a football club. It is a historic institution with an exceptional fan base, and my goal is to build a team that reflects that greatness on the pitch.”
“I came here to win trophies,” he added. “The Saudi Pro League has become a global competition, and we have the players and the resources to put Al Nassr on top both domestically and in Asia. The work starts immediately to turn those ambitions into reality.”
