Celtic have reportedly agreed personal terms with Mika Baur. The German U21 International is a target for Martin O’Neill’s side as he looks to galvanise the squad after last season’s heroics…

In a move that appears to have come from left field, Celtic are pushing hard to sign the SC Paderborn midfielder. In an update earlier this evening, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reported that Baur had agreed personal terms with Celtic.

Baur was instrumental in Paderborn being promoted to the Bundesliga, earning their player of the year accolade.
A product of the Freiburg Academy, the midfielder is comfortable playing as a No. 8, No. 10 or in a deeper playmaking role, with his technical ability, intelligence in possession and work rate among his standout attributes. He is definitely a shrewd bit of business by Celtic.

It would make sense if this was the natural replacement for Arne Engels, who is expected to leave this summer for £25m+. This will likely have been a factor in the player’s thinking when considering his next move.
Definitely one to watch and an encouraging signing if it goes through.
