Former Celtic loanee Junior Adamu is confident he can rediscover his scoring touch after completing a summer move to Schalke from Freiburg.

The Austria international endured a frustrating spell at the Hoops last season, failing to score in the Scottish Premiership despite making several appearances.

His only goal for the Scottish champions came in dramatic fashion, when he struck deep into stoppage time to earn Celtic extra-time in the Scottish Cup against Dundee and ultimately keep Celtic’s cup hopes alive.

Limited to just two league starts during his time in Glasgow, Adamu now believes he can make a much bigger impact with the newly promoted Bundesliga outfit.

Speaking after his arrival, the 24-year-old said via Glasgow Times: “It’s a really great feeling to be at such a big club.

“I’m a player who can make runs in behind, I am dangerous in the box and I can score goals.

“We had so many fans turn out just to see us training there.

“I decided to join Schalke because the club is a good fit for me. I have worked with manager Miron Muslic before too and everything worked out well.

    “Being here gives me goosebumps.”
