The Canada international has attracted strong interest following his impressive performances at the World Cup, where he helped his country reach the last 16 and further enhanced his growing reputation.

David Moyes is believed to be prioritising reinforcements at right-back before the new campaign, with Everton having tracked Johnston in recent weeks.

Now, journalist Stephen McGowan of The Herald reports that the Premier League club are expected to follow up that interest by lodging a bid worth more than £10 million.

Reports from England also suggest Johnston would be willing to consider a switch to Hill Dickinson Stadium if a deal can be agreed.

Everton’s pursuit comes amid expectations that Nathan Patterson will leave the club during the current transfer window, creating a vacancy at right-back.

While Celtic have no desire to part with one of their key players, the Scottish champions are reportedly anticipating an eight-figure approach before Monday’s Premiership curtain-raiser against Dundee.

Johnston joined Celtic from CF Montreal in January 2023 for around £3 million and still has three years left to run on his current contract.

10M sounds like a ridiculously low fee imo?
But already seen with Maeda and Welsh, that we aren’t setting fees, that would put off potential suitors, if a player is looking at moving on either imo?

We were looking for change this summer window, but giving away key players for less than they are worth, isn’t a change, i would be in favour of whatsoever?
But, if that’s what we are trying to introduce in order to attract players of a higher quality, is that going to be a new policy taken, within our player trading model?

AJ was a huge loss for large parts of last season, but Julian done very well, when he was involved?
Only a sign that AJ can be replaced, as was always going to be on the agenda, especially with the world cup?

AJ, like Maeda have been fantastic players for our club, but don’t believe that we should stand in players way,if better financial packages become available to them either imo?
No matter the setback for ourselves, still hoping a new core group within our squad can be formed, with a minimum of 2 seasons attached to it, by the time this window closes imo?

That should be our longer term aim, especially if we are looking for more success gained within European football, especially at CL levels imo?

Players who don’t want to be part of the longer term plans, might be better off moving on now, especially if we are going to be in a rebuilding process, as we need better stability within our squad, than having such a high turn over of players each summer?
Might have to take a big hit now, but if the stability and quality factor is gained, then hopefully we will be in a better position in the longer terms?

We still are a club, capable of producing new heroes, and wouldn’t have any real issues with Ralston and the developing Donovan in the RB position?
Even so, AJ would be a hard player to replace, especially with what he offered to ourselves, but wouldn’t say that it’s impossible to achieve either imo?
Wouldn’t feel comfortable, about doing such a potential deal, before the CL qualification game, all the same?

Ralston is nowhere good enough as shown by Martin last season, he should not be getting a new contract has not kicked a ball for
year’s just another passenger in the squad.
Worse still this incompetent board are going to bring Taylor back how is that improving the team. Martin likes big strong defenders he is not getting a lot of the player in he wants.

Which game do they want him for. Maybe 40 million, then they have a chance maybe.
