Celtic’s potential deal for Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan is still ongoing, despite earlier reports today that the player is set to sign imminently…
News from Greek sources had claimed that a deal for the Real Oviedo star was close to completion but now a new update from Sky Sports man Anthony Joseph has judged that as somewhat pre-mature.
The World Cup performer is still in talks with the club at present, but there is no agreement sorted as of yet, in what will be a deflating update for the support.
Celtic of course are in need of bolstering the squad and starting eleven more specifically, as last year showed up the glaring issues that exist within our playing staff.
Too many times a lack of quality and strength-in-depth from the bench caused us to drop far too many points in the course of the Scottish Premiership campaign, as well as coming up short in Europe once again plus missing out on the League Cup too, thanks to Wilfried Nancy and his crazy tactics.
Martin O’Neill did his very best to get us back on track and together after the Brendan Rodgers and then Wilfried Nancy departures from the club last term. The Irishman wasn’t even backed properly in the January transfer window either and yet he still somehow managed to find a way to get us over that finish line with a Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup Double.
This summer though, the manager requires major backing as his miracles can’t go on indefinitely. Kasper Høgh is all set for his Celtic medical tomorrow, after arriving in the UK earlier today at London Biggin Hill Airport, which Sky Sports caught on camera.
If that deal goes over without a hitch, it could be a real game-changer for the manager, team, supporters and club more generally speaking.
Whilst it is a decent statement of intent, it will NOT cover the multitude of problems that are ongoing presently in the side, which cannot be left untreated if we are to remain successful and swashbuckling on the pitch this season. Haissem Hassan and Mika Baur have both been linked alongside Kasper Høgh but neither are as close to signing as the Celtic support would like.
SC Paderborn have claimed that they have rejected offers for 22-year-old Baur, as Celtic continue to lowball certain teams for their players. Meanwhile, Hassan is NOT close to completing a four-year deal to Paradise, as Anthony Joseph has now confirmed earlier reports may have been ahead of the mark today.
Enlightening his followers via social media site X, he said:

If Celtic want both men, they should stop messing about and pay what they are worth, otherwise, move onto different targets as we are already on a tight deadline now with a massive rebuilding job outstanding and the season starting next Monday evening.

I think we should be mindful of what a club thinks a player is worth and what Celtic think the player is worth. Granted we can’t sign a player if we don’t meet a clubs valuation, however, that doesn’t mean said player is worth that and that Celtic should automatically pay it. If Celtic say they want £30m for Engles will a team automatically pay it? No they’ll negotiate, but if Celtic negotiate to try and get the best price for the club they’re accused of ‘lowballing’. Its the same with Kelechi, castigated for not activating the extension, which would have meant the same wages he got when Celtic hurriedly and desperately signed him at the start of last season, for a guy who started just 2 games under MON and couldn’t last 90 mins. Celtic were correct to negotiate. Then castigated for supposedly calling out his wage demands despite us actually agreeing a contract with him, on which he reneged and took more money in Turkey. The CEO of that club can through a much mud as he likes, facts are facts. While I want transfers as much as the next supporter we can’t just throw or money away, £80m in the bank isn’t that much in the world of football.
