Greg Taylor could be in line for a surprise return to Celtic, with reports suggesting the Scottish champions are weighing up a move for their former left-back.
The 28-year-old only departed the Hoops last summer to join PAOK, but his future in Greece has quickly come into doubt following changes behind the scenes at the club.
Taylor was left out of PAOK’s squad for last week’s Europa League qualifier against Dynamo Kyiv after requesting to miss the fixture, with the absence initially attributed to a personal matter.
Since then, reports in Greece have claimed new head coach Alessio Lisci does not see the Scotland international as part of his long-term plans.
According to Stephen McGowan of The Herald, Celtic are now assessing the possibility of re-signing Taylor as they look to add competition and cover for first-choice left-back Kieran Tierney.
Taylor’s original decision to leave Glasgow came after Tierney agreed to rejoin the club, with the defender opting to seek regular first-team football elsewhere.
He initially started pre-season as PAOK’s preferred left-back while Baba Rahman’s return was delayed by World Cup commitments, but went on to make 18 appearances during his debut campaign, spending much of the season as Rahman’s understudy.
The departure of former manager Razvan Lucescu is believed to have altered Taylor’s prospects, with the defender now seemingly out of favour under the new management.
Following confirmation that Marcelo Saracchi will not be returning, Celtic remain in the market for a left-back. James Penrice and Dundee United defender Will Ferry have also been linked as the club continue their search for reinforcements.

It has to be Sarachi, we don’t want Greg Taylor back. Sarachi is a far better player and is cheap. GO FOR SARACHI!

What other options are really available, for ourselves to fulfill our 8 homegrown requirements within a 25man European squad?
Agreed that Saracchi would have been my own preferred choice, but what other position is actually available, if you work on the 2 options in each position theory?
Scales or even Trusty could be considered as 3rd choice options in the position, if needs must, for flexibility purposes within the overall look of our squad?
We need to form some sort of stability, within the forming of our squad, which wasn’t going to be achieved by going down the loan route?
Liam Miller, was my own preferred choice in trying to complete our 8 homegrown quota requirements?
Followed by Penrice, but both looked like deals weren’t available?
So Taylor, was still 3rd choice in that regards imo?
Saracchi would have meant that another Scottish player had to be found elsewhere within our squad, but where?
In a positional sense?
Maybe it would help more, for the moaning about the situation, getting replaced by suggestions, with the problems that exists within trying to form a 25man European squad imo?
The 8 homegrown quota rule, still remains our biggest problem to contend with, especially as it accounts for nearly a third of our overall 25man squad?
