Celtic January transfer target Niko Sigur is reportedly available for just £2.5m this summer. The Canadian Internationalist was part of Jesse Marsch’s side that made it to the Last 16 of the FIFA World Cup, making three appearances.

The 22-year-old plays his domestic football with Croatian side Hajduk Split but they could be forced to part ways with the versatile Sigur as they look to fund a squad rebuild. According to Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas, Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in the player having also eyed him in January.

#Wolves remain keen on Niko Sigur after his impressive performances for #Canada at #WorldCup. #wwfc had a look at him back in January. Could cost around £2.5m from #HajdukSplit. Good player. https://t.co/OzHTtF6aQx pic.twitter.com/FuPF7y48C1

Sigur can play right back as well as defensive midfield and would bring steel to the Celtic midfield as well as versatility. Sigur has made 114 appearances for Hadjuk, scoring and assisting five times apiece.

Celtic have also been linked with Torino midfielder Gvidas Gineitis. The Romanian Internationalist is said to be available at £9m as Celtic plan for life after Arne Engels, who is expected to depart for the English Premier League this summer in a £25m+ deal.

Celtic are yet to make any signings in the transfer window, which has heightened anxiety amongst the support that a sluggish summer is ahead. However, given that the World Cup is ongoing, there is usually a delay due to major tournaments and the optimists among us are hoping that this explains some of the delay.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed on for a new year with the Champions despite interest from elsewhere. The ex-Liverpool midfielder adds quality to the midfield but the manager will need to add pace and endurance to ensure that the midfield remains as dynamic as ever.
