Celtic Supporters’ Liaison Officer John Paul Taylor appears to have been targeted by hackers after an unusual post briefly appeared on his X account…
Taylor, who has worked at Celtic for a combined 28 years, is widely recognised among supporters for his role in dealing with fan enquiries and engagement, with his account attracting almost 80,000 followers.
Those followers were left puzzled on Tuesday when his profile shared what appeared to be a promotional post unrelated to football.
The message read: “I’m buzzing right now! brand new car just arrived earlier today, fully paid for!
“The feeling is honestly indescribable, and I’m so grateful for this moment. A huge thank you to @DigitalGainHQ for the opportunity to work with you.”
The post featured photographs of a white Lamborghini and referenced a private cryptocurrency-related account, raising immediate suspicions that Taylor’s profile had been compromised.
It is believed the account may have been caught up in a phishing scam, where hackers gain access through fraudulent direct messages sent from other compromised accounts.
The post has since been removed, although it remains unclear whether Taylor has fully regained control of the profile. His X account has also been switched to private.
Supporters are being urged to exercise caution and avoid interacting with any unexpected posts or direct messages from the account until the situation has been fully resolved.
